Here are some simple things you can do to help:
• Come to Recovery Oriented Systems of Care on July 21 [a Community Forum to talk with legislators about background check policies and their impact on the behavioral health workforce.]
• Complete the Empower Oregon survey. We need to hear directly from YOU about your priorities for improving human service delivery at all levels in Oregon.
• Tell your story about new crim-check requirements. In 2009 a new law created a list of crimes that permanently disqualify a person from employment in a wide variety of care settings. Will you or someone you know be affected by these new requirements? Tell us your story. Submit your story online, or call us at 503.772.5846 to set up a meeting to share your story with an Empower Oregon organizer.
• Grow the movement. Get your clients, coworkers or family members to complete the survey and tell their stories.
• Host a story party. Have a BBQ or other social event where your friends can come and record their stories together. It’s more fun then Karaoke! Contact us and we’ll get you all the help you need to have a successful party.
